The night before Ashura

The photos from Ashura procession are known to the world for their graphic qualities and fervent showing of the devotees of the Shia community. But, often the moments and events of the night before are less shown to the world. The night is basically a preparation night before the big procession the next day and also a night for prayers for men and women of the faith. The occasion is also one with financial benefits with small businessmen who trade to the people visiting Hossaini Dalan for the religious perpose.

I’ve shot Ashura over the years and I think, the pictures from the night before deserves a post alone.

Enjoy!
